When this tool helps
A contract arrives as a PDF and you need to edit a clause, a colleague sends a report you must quote, or you want to reuse text from a manual in a new document. Retyping is slow and introduces mistakes. Converting to Word gives you an editable document in seconds, and plain text is ideal when you only need the words, for a translation, a spreadsheet cell or a message.
Tips for a better result
- Use Word when you will edit and format the text, and plain text when you want to paste it into another program or translator without any formatting.
- Leave the option to remove page numbers, headers and footers on for books and reports. Turn it off if the repeated lines at the top or bottom are real content, such as a letterhead you want to keep.
- Open the result and skim the first pages. Text from PDFs can contain small mistakes, such as joined words, so proofread before you send it.
- If you need only part of a long PDF, cut it first with Extract pages so the result is shorter.
- If you only need to tidy text you have already copied, Text cleaner repairs line breaks and spaces.
Common problems and how to fix them
The result has no tables or pictures
The converter rebuilds the document from its text, so tables and images are not copied. For a picture of a page use Convert PDF to JPG or PNG, and for a table copy the data by hand or from the original source.
I get a message that no text was found
The PDF is a scan or a photo of pages. Run OCR: text from PDF and photo on it first to turn the pictures into text, then convert.
The PDF asks for a password
Remove the password with Remove PDF password (you must know it), then convert the unlocked copy.
What happens to your file
The PDF is read and the Word file is built by code in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so contracts, medical papers and private letters stay on your device.
What the converter does
The tool reads the text of every page, joins broken lines into paragraphs, removes hyphenation at line ends, drops repeated headers, footers and page numbers, finds headings by font size and recognizes bulleted lists. It then builds a real Word document with heading styles, or a plain text file in UTF-8. Images, tables and multi-column layouts are not carried over.

Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
No. The tool extracts the text and rebuilds it as paragraphs, headings and lists, so the file is easy to edit. Images, tables, columns and the exact page layout are not carried over.
My PDF is a scan and I get an error. What should I do?
A scan contains pictures, not text. Recognize the text first with the OCR tool, then convert the result.
Does it work with Russian and Azerbaijani?
Yes. Any language is read as long as the PDF contains real text, including Cyrillic and Azerbaijani letters.
Why do some words look broken or joined together?
Some PDFs store every letter or word as a separate piece with unusual spacing or special fonts. Try again with the header removal option switched on or off, or copy the text from another version of the document.
Is there a size limit?
Files up to 100 MB and 2000 pages. Unlock a password-protected PDF first.
