Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. Both files are read and compared in your browser, so they never reach a server.

Which files can I compare?

Text-based PDF files, Word .docx files and plain text. A scanned PDF has no text layer, so run it through a scanner with OCR first.

How are changes found?

Both versions are split into lines and aligned, then the words inside changed lines are highlighted. For PDF files the page numbers of changes are listed.

Is it free?

Yes, free, with no sign-up and no limits.
