How do I make the GIF smaller?
Use a shorter piece, a smaller width and fewer frames per second. 480 pixels and 10 frames per second is a good balance.

Why does the GIF look less smooth than the video?
A GIF has only 256 colors per frame and few frames per second. That is the format limit, not the tool.
