What are cookies

Cookies and similar technologies, such as local storage, are small pieces of data that a website saves on your device. Some are needed for the site to work, others help us understand how it is used or show advertising.

Necessary: always on

We keep your language, color theme, favorite tools, your PDF reader library and your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB. This data stays on your device, is not sent to us and is needed for the site to work as you expect.

Statistics

Google Analytics uses the cookies _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years. They help us count visits, see which pages and tools are used, and learn the approximate country and device type.

Microsoft Clarity uses cookies such as _clck, _clsk, CLID and MUID, which last from one day to one year. It records how pages are used, for example clicks and scrolling, so that we can find and fix usability problems.

Advertising

Google AdSense and Google Ads use cookies such as __gads, __gpi and IDE, usually for up to 13 months, to show and measure ads, including personalized ads when you allow them. Google sets the exact names and durations and may change them. You can read more on Google’s cookies page and manage ad personalization in Google Ad Settings.

When we ask for your consent

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we show a notice and use statistics and advertising cookies only after you accept them. You can accept all, reject all or choose. Elsewhere, statistics run by default and you can switch them off at any time. We detect your region from your browser settings, so the result may not always be exact.

Change or withdraw your choice

Use the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page to change or withdraw your choice at any time. Rejecting is as easy as accepting and does not limit any tool. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
